Our first official tasting

Saturday afternoon, November 20, 2021, our first official tasting took place in the presence of sommelier Roberta Galli, from Fisar in Milan.

Two vertical tastings of our Barbera del Monferrato DOC and Grignolino d’Asti DOC, as well as a table wine based on Freisa: we put our wines to the test both in the different vintages produced so far and among themselves, in a crescendo from the “lightest” to the “strongest” (in terms of alcohol content).

The audience consisted mainly of friends and family. Everyone was curious about the sommelier’s opinion and to get an answer to the question that has been haunting us for 4 years, since we started this adventure in the world of wine: is it an important wine or a “farmer’s” wine?

The wines in general positively surprised Roberta Galli: for being only the first vintages produced by our winery, it can be said that we are on the right path to defining our identity.

A limited number of bottles produced, overripe harvests, few hectares managed, small winery: all this made the sommelier recall the association between VignetiBarbaraMariano and the “garagistes” movement (in French, “vin de garage”). Personally, I didn’t know this definition to indicate those who try to produce unique and particular wines, starting from small plots of old vineyards. We are honored by this association with this group of “extreme and pure” winemakers: our intention is to produce unconventional, powerful, and proud wines. Without compromise: you either love them or hate them. And we certainly take this association as a good omen for the future.
